I am currently implementing a new NW data zone, with a number of 2008 R2
clients, an they have all had various problems.

I am running with 7.6 both on the clients and the NW servers.

Try 7.5.3 on the clients and see if that makes a difference.  You can
stay with 7.6 on the server.

Because of the way EMC does parallel development streams in NetWorker,
7.6 was released before 7.5.2.  7.5.2 and now 7.5.3 have support for
2008R2 in the client, 7.6 won't get that until 7.6.1 or perhaps 7.6.2.
