Hi,
        Try using the native device drivers for the tape drives. The
inquire is not able to recognize all the required information of the
tape drive like serial number etc..
The out shown that u have given is this
[email protected]:QUANTUM SDLT320         6060|Tape

And the actual proper output should be similar to this

[email protected]:STK     T9940B          1.42|Tape, /dev/rmt/4cbn
                                           S/N: 479002043927
                                           WWNN=500104F00097E1E7
                                           WWPN=500104F00097E1E8
                                           PORT=00000001

Subject: [Networker] NW can't access stand-alone tape devices

So I have started installing NW 7.4 on a machine, in order to do my
disaster recovery of my old server, so I can read old bootstrap tapes
and
do recoveries from my old client. However, NW doesn't seem to recognize
the 2 stand-alone tape drives on this machine. Note that this machine
was
a storage node on my current server, and working perfectly, before I
removed NW 7.5.2, and disconnected it from the network and installed
7.4.

The log shows a warning that the 2 tape drives were found, but that
device
drivers were not found, and to please install them. However, the OS
*has*
drivers (in Device Manager in Windows, it properly shows both devices as

tape drives). I do have persistent binding enabled in the registry. Both

worked perfectly, when I had this machine configured as a 7.5.2 storage
node. Removable Storage is definitely disabled.

Any idea why it thinks it has no device driver? The OS is showing a
driver.

Any idea how to proceed? I just need to add the 2 stand-alone tape
drives
(I can live with just one), so that I can then do the next steps
(mmrecov
and "nsrck -L7"). Do I need to add each drive as a new device, using
NMC?

Thanks
