I need to move our Networker server to a new server. Up to now, we've
been using tape exclusively, but we're moving to a new environment where
we will be primarily using aftd. My plan is to mount the NFS share
(actually Data Domain) to the backup server and create the aftd device
directly on the share. We will still have tape for archive purposes
Couple of questions on this:
- Any reason the bootstrap should not go on aftd? I'm planning
to make a copy both on disk and tape every night
- If the bootstrap can go onto aftd, I was considering this
process for moving the server. Would it work?:
1. Mount the NFS share to the current backup server
2. Create an aftd device on the share, label it, and back up the
bootstrap and all indexes to it
3. Unmount the device and unmount the NFS share
4. Mount the NFS share to the new backup server
5. Create a new aftd device on the new backup server on that
share, but do not label it
6. Run mmrecov, nsrck -L7, etc to do the recovery
Thanks
