this is the output from the command prompt

C:\Program Files\Legato\nsr\bin>scanner -i \\.\tape0
8909:scanner: using '\\.\tape0' as the device name
8936:scanner: scanning LTO Ultrium-3 tape 000101L3 on \\.\tape0
8939:scanner: LTO Ultrium-3 tape 000101L3 already exists in the media index

In other words, you've already run either scanner -m or scanner -i (which
does a superset of -m) on this tape before.

39078:scanner: Media DB error: invalid query for client id map database
39078:scanner: Media DB error: client name must be specified

I haven't ever seen those errors before, I'm not certain what they mean.
You might wish to contact support about them.

service on uabzapp03.venture.venture-production.com
39078:scanner: File index error: `hrlnws02xp' is not a registered client

There's one problem: you haven't created a client definition for
that client.

When you run scanner with -i, it tries to recreate the client file index
for each saveset that you scan. For that to work, you have to have
already created the client within NetWorker, so that there is an empty
index directory for it to populate.

8767:scanner: write failed, Broken pipe
8770:scanner: fn 110 rn 24716 read error No more data is on the tape.

Ok, so there are several savesets that were in progress when you hit
end-of-media on that volume, so they are continued on some other tape.

39876:scanner: the following save sets continue on another volume:

Never seen that error before either, but it looks like it's saying
"I can't write what I've learned to the index directory for the
client updnos400 because you don't have permission to write to that
directory".

I thought that I was createing the index by using the scanner -i command???

You would be, but you're having several problems during the scanner run
that are preventing that from happening.
