Thanks for sharing your experience George.

This is the primary reason I do not run the NMC on our NW Server...
Too
much interaction or inter-dependency between the two that must be
learned through experiences such as yours. And EMC also recommends
running NMC on a stand alone NW client as opposed to running it on
the
server, although they don't say you can't, they just suggest it runs
better on something other than the server... Which has also been my
experience so far. I first ran NMC on our NW server, then moved it to
a
client when the 7.6 NMC came out. It works fine with our 7.4.4
server
and is an improvement over the previous release of NMC.

I used to run NMC on the server, but started having so many problems with
jobs not finishing, that I finally moved it off onto a separate client ...
and all my problems went away. Apparently, if you have more than about 40
clients (I have 90+), then running NMC on the server can cause many issues.
This was on 7.4.5, I believe.

Yikes! We're at 30 or so. Maybe we'll move nmc to another server at some point depending on its disposition. Hmm ... Well, I really miss nwadmin. I still use it for viewing *only* and sometimes nsrwatch. I dislike the viewer under nmc. I like the fact that under nwadmin I can see everything all in one place. Also, I can open multiple things at the same time. Under nmc, I have to close out certain windows before I can return back. All they needed to do was to revamp nwadmin to allow sorting of schedules, etc. Why bother running all this through Java, anyway. Just seems unnecessary, slower and possible security issues.

Call me old fashioned, I guess.

OK, gotta run. Mary Tyler Moore re-run coming on soon. LOL!

I had posted here about that, at the time. You might find it in the
