Why does NW still back up an index if there's no data to back up?
(NW 7.5SP1, running on Linux)
I ran an incremental group with two Windows clients: one save set each.
Nothing had changed on client1 since the last backup (level=full), so I
get the usual "4 B" for its save set size, but it still backed up the
client's index as a level 9. However, it's the same size at the previous
backup for the index which was a level full.
I understand that NW always backs up indexes at a level 9 when doing
incrementals (guess that's safer than if it backed them up at the same
level as the save sets), but I'm not clear on why a level 9 would
capture the same amount that the level full did? I thought a level 9
captured everything that's changed since the last lower numbered backup,
which in this case would be a full (level 0). Nothing's changed since
then, though, so I would have expected no backup of the index?
