Hi,
we have a very strange problem with one of our savegrps.
We have a savegrp with 30 MSW clients in it. The savegrp is thus called
"win2k" vis "win2k-daily", "win2k-weekly", "win2k-monthly".
Each of these savegrps has been running on various version of
Legato using a Perl script "Notification.pl" as the notification command.
The script formats and does some stuff for the resulting backups
and mails it out at group completion.
We have 68 savegrps all using this the same way and they all work.
What has happened recently though, is the win2k group is completing
successfully but not sending an email notification.
When I look in the mail log of the backup server, there are emails
for all our savegrp notifications but not the win2k ones.
I checked our AV gateway and they are not there.
Log files are generated and dumped correctly for the Legato Log Web app
we use from a nice person on this list.
I have now ruled out the email system as being at fault. It seems
there is no notification generated at all if I run this savegrp with all
clients either manually or from the cron job we use.
However if I run the savegrp manually and only specify one or two clients
eg:
savegrp -l full -c client1 -c client2 win2k-weekly
The notification will be sent immediately on job completion.
So, my questions are:
1) we have 30 or so clients in the savegrp - is this too many for the
system to handle? I hope not because 7.2.1 used to be able to handle
60 or so. We are on 7.4.2 now.
If the output is too big, maybe legato silently omits it and thus
we never have anything to pass to Notification.pl?
Please note we have had this going since the 1990's - it is only
the last couple of weeks it has started to fail and only this one savegrp
and only when it runs all the clients in it.
Also, there's been no changes since early December!
Please help! (and thanks...)
