Anyone know if SDLT600 drives will try to compress non-compressible data?
I did some checking around on Google to determine the compression
algorithm for SDLT and LTO. I found that information, and I also found
several sources that say that an LTO-3 drive will not attempt to
compress data that cannot be compressed. For example, the Wikipedia
article on LTO under LTO-DC, where it mentions:
" ... difference between ALDC and SLDC is that SLDC does not apply the
compression algorithm to uncompressible data ..."
but I was unable to locate anything about whether or not SDLT600 drives
have this intelligent feature?
