Followup (via the list, since forum has stopped mirroring the list again).

It's been confirmed that we no longer have domain admin, and can't even join
new hosts to it. So a solution needs to be used that does not require a
domain login.

What I've now proposed to our PC/NAS folks is to have the NAS also present
this ZFS device as an iSCSI LUN, and mount it onto the Windows client that
way.

Does anyone see potential problems with this? It's not been done yet as
we're working out a separate issue with the 7410 first.

working that way). Getting a domain admin's password added to the backup
config may not happen; Our division is not in control of that.

the client, but can't really do it that way (and that shows the mount path
method, which is not working).
