[Networker] NDMP 'exclude' with NetApp filer
2009-11-27 15:47:54
Hi
Networker 7.4.5 on Solaris10
I'm wanting to exclude a directory from backup for a volume on one of our
NetApp filers,
My NDMP entry for filer1 has a list of volumes, lets say...
/vol/vol1
/vol/vol2
/vol/vol3
I want to skip backing up /vol/vol1/BIGDIR
So, in the Application Information section I use EXCLUDE=BIGDIR (it can only be
a file name not a path).
I have 2 issues with this (which I think makes it pretty useless).
1) What if there's a directory /vol/vol1/important/BIGDIR as well? That too
will be skipped.
2) And what if /vol/vol3 has a BIGDIR somewhere - same thing - it'll be skipped.
To get around 2) I suppose I could create a second 'client' of filer1 which
just backed up /vol/vol1 with the exclude and remove the /vol/vol1 entry from
the other client, but that doesn't get around the fact that if there are other
BIGDIR's on the volume (or they get created in the future) then they'll be
skipped.
Is there any way around this other than splitting BIGDIR off onto its own
volume and not including that volume in the list?
Cheeers... Allan.
