Yes, 1 datazone server and 6 AFD with 6 pools, all local
to the backup server. 120 lan based clients.
Here is a raw setup sample :
About the pools
Pool1= device AFD#1,
Pool2= device AFD#2,
Pool3= device AFD#3, ....
About my groups :
Group1 = Client1,2,3
Group2 = Client4,5,6 ....
I assign Groups to pool depending of data load
and start time.
In Pool1, I authorize Group1,Group7,...
In Pool2, I authorize Group2, ...
In Pool3, I authorize Group3,Group8 ...
In Pool4, I authorize Group4, ...
In Pool5, I authorize Group5, ...
In Pool6, I authorize Group6, ...
If you want to play with data size,
use my reporter V5. I created data load simulator.
One is done to estimate data load change if you migrate
a group or a client from a pol to another.
There are also ganttcharts for planning the groups
You can also play with group based schedule, having
group1 as Full Sunday, Diff other days (F 1 1 1 1 1 1)
group7 as Full Saturday, diff other 1 1 1 1 1 1 F
Easier to manage than client based schedule.
You can also use AFD as staging, having AFD volumes
flushed to tape during day, reclaiming all or part
of disk space.
I have a day off tomorrow but if you want more,
may me off.
Chers

You've lost me. You have 1 server, with 6 AFTD devices attached. And you
have 6 pools, one each for each AFTD device. And so you have .. what, the
same client, defined 6 times, each with a different backup selection? And
each of these 6 clients is in a separate group? And you run all 6 groups
every night?
I'm still confused, sorry. :-)
