No disagreement here about how it should work. I just got surprised recently by a savegrp -R that went incr when it should have been full.

It's on my list to explore further about when I don't have multiple sev 1 issues.

That *may* be a recurrence of a bug that's been popping up all over the place in different versions where a savegroup restart may not honour the original start level, even within the restart window, and instead restart using the current day's level. It's been a bit of a whack-a-mole style problem ... every time we get it patched for one version, it pops up in a new version...

Hi all,
In some time during the full backup , if any backup fails then when we restart the failed group, all the clients which are configured in that backup will start taking incremental backup rather than Full backup. Could any one tell me why it is happens like that and what is the solution
for this...?

I suspect that when the group was defined, the checked by default "Force incremental" box on the Advanced tab of the group's Properties (in NMC) was left checked and it is forcing restarts to be incrementals.

One could argue that the Field Help says that it is for groups that are run more than once in a 24 hour period and a Re-start should not count that way. However, I've discovered the same thing with one of my restarts here recently.

In my experience, "Force incremental" should _not_ come into play for group restarts - only group "new" starts (for want of a better term) on the same day that a full backup has already been (a) scheduled and (b) run for that group.

For a regular, actual restart, I don't think it should come into play.

Cheers,

Preston.
