We have an older PV 136T

I would suggest you delete and re-create (or re-discover) your library,
which will build a new configuration for it. Sounds like maybe your
bar-code reader feature is not enabled... 
I have noticed since upgrading to 7.4.4, it take quite a few minutes
(like 5 to 10) for the library to reach a 'ready' state when the
Networker processes are all restarted... Library operations are slow,
methodical, but thorough... You must be patient with Networker in this
regard...
