[Networker] OS upgrading
2009-07-28 11:15:29
Looks like I'm adding complexity to an already complex project...
In the server move that I spoke about in an earlier email, I am now
upgrading the OS as well. So I will be moving a 7.4.4 installation from
a RHEL3 to a RHEL4 server. In the DR Guide, I'm a little unclear about
whether this can be done with mmrecov or not:
"Moving, copying or using the NetWorker mmrecov command to move a NetWorker
server's media database and resource files to a different OS platform,
even between
UNIX by different vendors, is NOT SUPPORTED. The only exception to this
is if
resources files are rebuilt manually and the NetWorker scanner command
is used to
rebuild media database and indexes. You can move between versions such
as Sun
Solaris 7 to Sun Solaris 8 or Windows NT to Windows 2000."
Does this mean that mmrecov CAN be used for an OS upgrade of the same
type, but not for RHEL->W2k3 for instance? Or does this mean that
mmrecov cannot be used for any type of OS upgrade? Thanks,
Greg
