Folks,

With the help of John Terran (thanks John!) I was able to resolve the problem
outlined in my original message (below). When you install Java it will by
default use your browser settings for network settings. My browser is set to
use our proxy server so that's what Java used. To fix the problem I opened up
the Java Control Panel and under Network Settings I changed it to "Direct
connection" (from "Use browser settings"). After that I was successfully able
to run the NMC on my desktop computer.

Subject: [Networker] NMC: Malformed reply from SOCKS server

I just upgraded to Networker 7.5.1 yesterday. In trying to get on the NMC from
my desktop (WXP-SP3, Firefox3.0.1, Java6 update 13). I'm getting the message
"Malformed reply from SOCKS server". Does anyone have a quick answer to how to
fix this?

Thanks, Dave.
