You are correct, this is a Win 2008 AD controller.

Well, as far as the files under the SYSVOL folder being special, they really 
aren't.  I created a simple .txt file and placed under the SYSVOL folder and 
that was not backed.  So, this is leading me to believe that something is going 
on with permissions or something?  I'm not really familiar with Active 
Directory either.  I'm in for it aren't I?  haha

I will check out the 7.5 Admin Guide and read up on that.  I also opened a 
ticket with EMC about this issue and will keep everyone posted.
