As Paul pointed out, the reason for the extra information is my 7.2.2 client version. I've upgraded the client to 7.4 and the 'probe' data is now gone from the owner notifications. Thanks Paul!

EMC has assured me that they support 7.2 clients with a 7.4.4 server, which was critical for me as I have 435 clients spread over a very large campus. I'm not looking forward to all the calls I will receive from my client base asking what happened to their notifications. EMC should have come up with something a bit more subtle ;-)

BTW, EMC support could not explain to me why the information was there, but they were able to confirm that I can't modify the report.

This 'probe' data as you are calling it will also appear in your
savegroup completion notifications because you are backing up a pre 7.4
client with a 7.4 server. This is EMCs subtle way of reminding you that
you need to update your client to the same level as the Networker
server. Until you upgrade this client to be at least 7.4, it will
continue to include this 'probe' data... After that, it will look like a
savegroup completion except it will only mention the client and its
save-sets that either succeeded or failed...
I don't believe there is any way to edit what 'owner notification'
produces for output...

Subject: [Networker] 7.4.4 Owner notifications show probe information

I'm in the process of testing 7.4.4 before upgrading our 7.2.2 production server. I am looking for a way to modify the contents of the email report sent out via Owner Notification. With 7.4.4, the email includes details that would be shown in a probe (savegrp -pvc). I'd like to get rid of this uneccessary detail in the notification.

Does anyone know if the notification contents can be changed?

Here is an example of a notification from 7.4.4:

vtl3-ad-hoc completed

Thanks,
