Thanks I deleted it through nsradmin. And the backups started to work fine.

I had this same issue once where I had to delete a client after the
server had been retired (nobody bothered to tell me first). It gave me
the same error message. I believe the problem is that the client and
server can't talk to each other. You have to use the commandline admin
tool to delete the client, because the gui has safeguards.
Unfortunately, I don't have my books in front of me, and I don't
remember the exact command.

At its heart, Networker is still a commandline system.

Subject: [Networker] Error: "user administrator on machine xxx is not on
administrator list"

Hi,

I had to re-install the os and the networker client for one of my backup
clients stil with the same hostname. When I try to initiate a backup
from that client I get an error as follows in the deamon.log:

nsrexecd: SYSTEM error: There is already a machine using the name:
"backupclient". Either choose a different name for your machine, or
delete the "NSR peer information" entry for "backupclient" on host:
"backupserver"

I searched the archive of the group and found how to delete the nsr peer
information. So now through the gui under Configuration > Local Hosts, I
try to delete the "backupclient" entry listed when clicked on
"backupserver".

But then I get this wierd error message "user administrator on machine
backupserver is not on administrator list". Administrator user is indeed
listed under administrators group under Configuration > User Groups >
Administrators as "user=administrator,host=backupserver". And can
perform any other operation which needs admin priviledges.

I'd appreciate any ideas to overcome this problem.

Thanks

Gokhan Erton
