Pardon me for intruding, but I am going to be in somewhat the same
situation. Currently running NW 7.4.2 on Windows; still a bit leery about
upgrading to 7.5, due to some of the problem emails.

Currently: I have 86 CALs, another 20 SQL CALs, in my current (physical)
environment. I am coming up on license renewal in a couple months. We are
planning on virtualing to 10 ESX servers, in a ESX cluster. Going to leave
all the SQL servers as is (i.e., physical). No more than 10 VMs per ESX
host; more likely, only 4 - 5 VMs per ESX host.

I thought about getting 10 Virtual ESX Licenses, but since I'll only have
about 50 or so VMs total, I don't think it's cost effective for me; I
think it's cheaper just to continue to use the regular CALs for those VMs.
If I had 100 VMs, it might be a different story.

I will be contacting EMC shortly, but it helps to have some clue before
calling.

Am I misunderstanding?

Thanks
