Hi.
I wonder if using the system variable NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT, if it works excactly
the same as the registry parameter Tcpip\Parameters\keepalivetime ?
And what if you configure both the registry setting and the system variable?
Does the system varable only affect the networker processes but not other
sessions on the client / server ?

Symptoms
Server initiated backups abort on savesets for client behind the DMZ.
Client initiated backups reports lost connection to server for client behind
the DMZ.
Cause
If the firewall does not receive a message within a specified timeout period,
the firewall will kill the connection. Tcp packets must be sent through to keep
the connection alive.
Resolution
NetWorker side: Update environment variable NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT that will
specify the interval in seconds to send "keep alive messages" from the
networker client to the networker server.
Example: A firewall is set to kill a connection if it has not received a
message with in 3600 seconds (maximum), on the networker side we will set
NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT=3500 . (This is done on the client side)
*****************************************************************************************************
How to set the variable:
The NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT variable must be set before the nsrexecd daemon starts.
* For UNIX, modify /etc/rc2.d/S95networker to include the following:
NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT=
export NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT
* For Microsoft Windows add the NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT variable to the system
environment variables by doing the following:
1. From My Computer, select Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, select the Advanced tab.
3. In the Advanced tab, click the Environment Variables button.
4. In the Environment Variables dialog box, click the New button in the System
variable pane.
5. In the New System Variable dialog box, enter NSR_KEEPALIVE_WAIT in the
Variable Name text box, and 30 in the Variable Value text box.
6. Click OK to the save the new variable.

Apart from NetWorker at the OS level, check the TCP IP Parameter TCP window
scale option.
