Hello,
There could be more to this but,
Have you tried to note down the SSID of the saveset and tried Saveset recover ?

Not yet. The saveset is like 300G, and I want something like 50M worth of files. And I don't know specifically the file names I want, only the directory path they are supposed to be in. Hence I wanted to use the GUI to recover, so I could choose the specific files easier.

When you re-created the client, did you give the proper name format i.e FQDN, does the name resolve properly ?

Well, it's like this - the client name exists, so NW renamed the client to be ~clientname. So there is no resolving that name.
The aliases show up as:

~admin_nt8rc
~admin_nt8rc.wrk.ads.pha.phila.gov-1

I created a HOSTS file entry for "~admin_nt8rc", but that made no difference (to be honest, I didn't think it would).

Have you applied proper aliases ? have you run nsrck cmd against the
new
client to check the index ?

Have not yet run nsrck or nsrim yet, no. I'm guessing I will need a "nsrck -L6".

I think you need to run "nsrck -L7 client" which should restore the indexes from the tapes to disk. I never did that, but according the manual, this is what you need.
