Hello,

I have a NDMP group which is right now backed up with the following schedule. "full
1 2 3 4 5 6" every week. Now i have to change the schedule because the above
schedule is occupying too much of VTL space. The savesets are mostly the DB backups which
are replaced everyday in the filesystem. Can anyone please recommend me a change in
backup level.

If the file(s) change daily, then they will be backed up daily regardless of the schedule, unless the dump level is "skip" (which of course will skip doing a backup of that filesystem completely). Changing the schedule won't help you here.

FYI, your schedule is the equivalent of "full incr incr incr incr incr incr", which might be a little easier to understand.

If you need to minimize space usage, can the dump files be compressed prior to backup with a good compressor, or can you simply turn on the compression directive to the client? Of course, if your VTL is using compression already, this will not help, and it fact would increase the space used on the VTL.

Otherwise your choices are increase the space on the VTL, or don't back it up every day.
