Re: [Networker] Snap Backup/Recovery : NMM Module
2008-12-26 15:42:20
Hello,
The two are quite different from each other.
PowerSnap leverages the ability of intelligent disk arrays to make snapshots,
and works on several types of Unix. It is no longer a strong solution for
Windows.
NMM leverages the Microsoft VSS framework for snapshots as its primary backup
mechanism. It can also take advantage of intelligent disk arrays if the array
vendor has supplied a VSS Provider for the array. NMM does make use of some
PowerSnap technology to manage the snapshots within NetWorker, and setting up
clients in NMC has similarities.
Thanks,
_Scott
