Firstly , I think you may be misreading the documentation.
(not that networker has "features" that don't match the documentation)
but the man on nsrclone , shows the -J switch to be
"Specifies the storage node to use for the recovery part of the cloning 
process"
Furthing reading using
man -s 5  nsr_storage_node
describes the language that clone operation is a save and recover
the save being the read the recover being the write portion.
Odd language to follow.
We do some complicated cloning at our site with perl I write.

Now with all that said, I don't have a solution to offer for your problem 
yet, but alas it is Friday and about to leave for the day, perhaps I can 
post again next week.

Also, if EMC would ever read the volume of problems people have with this 
issue they should have added two switches a long time ago
-r read_node -w write_node... is it that hard?
