In regard to: Re: [Networker] Question regarding backup level, Davina...:

You cannot add the same client to the same group twice with the same save sets. NetWorker has checks built in to prevent users from doing stupid things.

It's funny you mention this Davina.

I really think that check should be converted from an error to just a
warning, and have been meaning to ask on the list if others agree. I've
been thinking of filing an RFE on this issue.

The reason I think it should only be a warning is that right now,
NetWorker prevents people from having the same client listed in a
group twice if either of the clients use "All" for the saveset
*even though* the use of directives can make it so that there's
no overlap between what's being backed up.

This behavior makes it more cumbersome to use the "split client
config" to get more savestreams going from a client with a large volume.

I absolutely agree that NetWorker should warn about having two clients
in the same group with apparently overlapping savesets. It shouldn't
be completely blocking us from doing it, though, because clever use of
directives can alleviate the issue. Until NetWorker gets the built-in
ability to have multiple parallel savesets going from the same single
volume (while still using All as the saveset), it shouldn't be getting
in the way of things that can be done to cut the backup time of large
volumes.

I welcome opinions and comments from others on this.
