Subject: [Networker] [Off topic] Book giveaway
Hi everyone,
At the start of October, my book "Enterprise Systems Backup and
Recovery: A Corporate Insurance Policy" was published.
I've ended up with an additional copy and I'd like to donate it to
someone on this mailing list. I've enjoyed being a member of this list
and the collaborative support network it provides for over a decade,
and I'd like to pay that back in part by hopefully passing on a
resource that will be helpful to someone.
My book is a mix of both technical information, and management/
procedural recommendations for running a backup system, based on
experience I've gathered from consulting roles over the years; it's
aimed not just as backup/system administrators, but also their first
line of management as well, to help them understand what they need to
do/champion in order to ensure that a company's information systems
are properly protected.
I'll treat this as a bit of a competition; in a paragraph or less,
explain let me know what you consider to be the most critical role of
a backup administrator's job; since this isn't technically a NetWorker
related topic, feel free to email me directly at: pdeguise AT gmail DOT com.
I'll take 'entries' until Friday 24 October, and will contact the
person with the best story on the 25th to confirm shipping details and
find out if they want me to post onto the list who won/etc.
Cheers
Preston.
