Take a look at the savegroup completion report configuration. By default it 
sends out an email when a group finishes. However, all it is doing is calling a 
script. Just create your own script (including sending out email if you wish) 
and have it save the info you need.

Hello all. I am quite new to EMC backup. I need to create a script that will 
monitor backup group completion on Unix. Is there any possibility to have such 
a query, using nsradmin or some any other Unix NSR command ? We just can't use 
Windows GUI :-( I will really appreciate the help
