The alias is just a way of backing up multiple VMs without creating a client 
for each VM. By specifying *FULL* you just grab a snap shot and therefore do 
not need to install the client on every VM, but you cannot do file level 
recovery as you could if you had the client installed and specified ALLVMFS.

The draw back to the aliases is that when recovering the save set you do not 
know which saveset belongs to which VM. By default the Networker creates a save 
set named FULLVM and in that save set are listed the VMs, but the only usefull 
identifiable attribute is the size. I just spoke with EMC support and they are 
addressing this issue in a future release of Networker.
