It's hard for any tape backup software to distinguish from a "blank tape" and a
"tape used by another backup system". So Legato leaves tapes alone that haven't
been labeled. Easiest solution is to setup a pool called "scratch" and set the
pool attribute to "recycle to other pools". When you put tapes in, label them
with pool "scratch" and they will be used by whatever pool needs them.

That is a shame... why would they not implement a feature like this? I would
rather have a series of unlabeled volumes and let the pools automatically label
them as needed. Is there another way to do this type of thing?
