Unfortunately, neither of those suggestions panned out either. I also just tried reinstalling the NetWorker client software and I deleted and
created the client entry again. No success there either.

Well, you've provided additional information since I sent my first
suggestion.  The client has been virtualized, so it may not even be anything
on the client itself.  Networking on the base host may be impacting
networking on the guest.

Assuming you're comfortable reading the output of Linux's strace (like
Solaris' truss), your best bet would be to attach to nsrexecd on the
client using strace, including the -f option to follow forks, and then
attempt a backup from the server.  Something in the output from that
should provide additional clues as to where the failure is happening.
