The EMC Disk Library is an appliance, not a general purpose,
pre-configured system.  I believe its overall design, its support
paradigm, its security implementation, etc. all center around this
appliance model.  This is the same model used by the EMC CLARiiON and
EMC Symmetrix storage arrays (and products from other vendors as well).

Not allowing privileged access into a system that isn't designed for
support by users is a good idea (IMHO).
