I've seen similar issues in 7.3.3. Would it make more sense to go to
7.3.4, or just jump up to 7.4? How much pain would be involved in going
to 7.4?

Lots of bugs with media DB in 7.3.3.; corrected, or at least improved at
7.3.4 and beyond.

Is your problem intermittent or is it more serious than that? I have
seen lots of media problems, especially with cloning in the mix, at
7.3.2.jumbosomething.

You may as well surrender and switch your efforts into planning an
upgrade (including solaris), vs. troubleshooting a problem that you
probably can't do anything about - of course that depends on what the
impact is right now.
That is what I am in the process of doing right now, for similar
reasons.

Regards.

Hi,

We have a site with NetWorker 7.3.3 (Solaris 8), and we've seen some
tapes where there is no barcode listed in the volumes tab, although
the volume name matches the actual barcode.

The main issue is that when NetWorker goes to relabel this tape, it
fails with a "Duplicate tape" error, and loops retrying the operation.

We've tried the typical nsrck -m and nsrim -X, as well as removing
the keys and indexes for the media database and allowing it to repair
itself.

Anyone have any thoughts, or has seen this before?

Thanks,

Dave
