Not sure whos problem it is, but it seems to be normal to NOT see the
autochanger once it has been configured with jbconfig. I am running
solaris 10 with 7.3.2.jumbo. The inquire will show everything else but
the jukebox, same with sjisn.

Whenever I have seen the jukebox not ready via nsrjb, it has always been
hardware. I have sun/STK L700e. The last failure we had that caused
similar results to NW started with a bad hand, and then evolved into a
bad motherboard on the library controller. The motherboard problem was
impossible to diagnose. It took a lot of convincing, but it ended up
fixing the problem. The funny thing about that was that the CE
mistakenly installed a HP motherboard in the L700e, and it discovered
just fine, but the inquire showed a HP model vs the L700e expected
model. I did not bring up the library, and forced the CE to get it right
by changing it out again. Apparently the part numbers are very similar.

Hope that helps.

Hello Networkers!!

Couple of weeks ago, we upgraded from 7.2 to 7.4SP2. When we were at
7.2, we started having errors with one of the drive, we set it to
service mode and kept going. Today, I noticed that another drive started
having problems ejecting the tape. Thinking it could be a side effect of
the upgrade, I decided to delete the existing jukebox config and start
from scratch.

Unfortunately, after I configured the jukebox, I noticed that none of
the nsrjb options worked ( -HEv, -IEv ). I would get the following
error:
setting verbosity level to `1'
39078:nsrjb: RAP error: No jukeboxes are currently usable.

However, nsrjb by itself would work, but would also display a message
saying the jukebox is not 'accepting commands'.

In the process of debugging, I noticed that the 'inquire -sl' command
would show the 'Autochanger' entry upto the configuration. As soon as I
finished configuring the jukebox and when I ran the 'inquire -sl'
command again, I would notice that the 'Autochanger' entry was gone. The
weird part is that the sjirdtag, sjisn commands would show the details
of the jukebox, but sjimm would respond with an I/O error.

We are running the Networker server ver 7.4SP2 on Solaris 10 OS which is
connected to a Qualstar TLS-4440 thru a fiber switch (qlogic Sanbox2).
The server has Qlogic fiber card model 2310F and is using the native OS
Qlogic drivers.

Wondering if any of you have any ideas as to what it could be or have
already experienced the above situation? I have a case open with EMC
also - the tech suspects some driver issue. The situation as of now is
that we are not able to use the jukebox at all!!
