I am currently running Networker 7.2.2 on Solaris 10. My index
directory was filling up my / filesystem so I decided to move it to a
separate filesystem (/nsr_index) and I symlinked /nsr_index to
/nsr/index. This had been working fine. However, I had rebooted my
backup server a few days ago and didn't notice that /nsr_index didn't
automatically get mounted. So now I have my index information being
saved to the /nsr_index directory but since the filesystem is not
mounted, it's being saved into the / filesystem.
I would have assumed that since my original index directory didn't get
mounted, Networker would have created new indexes for all my clients and
thought that all backups were new, but when I look at the indexes for my
clients, they do in fact show that they go back a month (default browse
& retention policy). Is it perhaps showing the right information but if
I tried to recover something from the old index, it would fail?
(Haven't tried this yet)
Won't I have to merge my old index directory with my new one? If so,
how would I go about doing so? I imagine I'd have to shut down
Networker, move /nsr_index to /nsr_index.new, recreate the /nsr_index
directory, mount it and then somehow merge the old information with the
new (perhaps with nsrck?)
Thanks in advance,
Jim
