Hi out there,

In an effort to save some money and keep our out-of-warranty
Qualstar libraries happy, I've been trying to explore the possibility
of using non-qualstar-oem'd AIT-3 drives. Physically, all you have to do
is swap out the front bezel. But I now have heard stories (no
direct experience) suggesting that, yes, it works and also, no it
doesn't.

Is there anyone out there who has done this successfully?
(Or anyone who tried it and found it to fail?)

Matt,

My suggestion is to see if you can borrow one of those OEMed drives and try it in your tape library for a couple of weeks. Then you'll know.
