We are currently using it on three different servers and after the
initial installation and configuration issues, all works great.

Client O/S and version - Windows 2003 server, all latest SP and hotfixes
NW version - One is 7.3.3 and One is 7.2.1
SnapImage version - 2.0.2
Size of data being backed up - Server 1 - 4 million files \ 350GB,
Server 2 - 3-4 million files \ 300 GB, Server 3 - 6 million files \ 400
GB
SnapImage is great once you get it installed and configured and licensed
correctly. Only a couple of issues that I have found - You cannot do a
rename of recovered data. You must overwrite or redirect. You cannot
do any type of backups but Full and Differential. No incrementals will
work. Some stuff really isn't in the documentation and you have to
learn as you go but I have found the following:

For the Client - make sure that you have in the Application information
section:
UPDATE=y
HIST=y

If you don't have this information, you'll only get full backups.

Also, change the Group Inactivity timeout to 0. The default is 30
minutes and differential backups will probably fail if left at the
default.

Subject: [Networker] SnapImage

Hi,

I am looking for comments from anybody who is currently using SnapImage.

I have scanned my archive of this user group and most of the SnapImage
posts are all quite old.

Several have mentioned that it is still supported, but the overall
impression is that it is not widely used.

We are about to spend a whole lot of time and effort on SnapImage in a
Windows server environment.

I would really welcome a quick comment from anyone who is currently
using SnapImage with:-

Client O/S and version

NW version

SnapImage version

Size of data being backed up by SnapImage.

Overall rating of SnapImage Poor / Acceptable / Good

Many thanks for any responses.
