Hello,
Are your SCSI,HBA Bios for FC or SCSI the same ?
Are you able to write any thing new on the new server, have you looked
into CDI settings ? Drivers, i think solaris uses Leadval ?
What about the block settings? i assume they are the same , if you moved
from SUN to SUN servers.

Hi Fazil. I was using a Sun p/n 375-3141 LVD/SE dual channel SCSI HBA on
the old server with no special drivers. It failed along with a bunch of
other items so I replaced it with a Sun Qlogic ISP10160 with the
SUNWqus* 32 and 64 bit drivers. I forget the Sun p/n for this one but
it's genuine OEM #375-???? It was as close as I could find to the old HBA.
I can probe-scsi from the monitor and see the attached devices and I can
run inquire and jbconfig from the OS. CDI is (and was) set to "not used"
on the drives. I can inventory, relabel tapes and run backups with the
new server. Tape capacity looks to be right around the expected 200 GB
native. I can also run recover successfully.
I also tried scanner on an old tape from a completely different server
with the same results shown at the bottom of this message. At least it
looks like I've isolated the problem to reading foreign Networker
volumes on the new server. Probably won't have much luck reading newly
written tapes from this system on others either.
Thanks for the advice, Scotty.
Here are some of the system messages on the new server. Looks like it is
running with variable record length which I *think* means it syncs up
with the previously written block size? The devices window shows block
size set to "handler default".
