(this is a copy of a case I am opening with EMC)
I have a Win2003 client, running NW 7.4.2. NetWorker server is 7.4.2.
Doing a FULL backup of saveset ALL, I am receiving the following errors:
* admnman002:C:\ 5386:save: VSS failed to take the snapshot.
* admnman002:C:\ VSS Provider or hardware error. The provider logged the
error in the event log.
* admnman002:C:\ 5387:save: Snapshot attempt number 2 of 3 will occur in
10 minutes.
* admnman002:C:\ 7281:save: VSS snapshot failed with error 0x80042301 --
VSS Backup or Restore is not in the correct state for the operation, or
the writer is not in the correct state..
* admnman002:C:\ 7284:save: Networker will save the files without the
snapshot.

Release[0x80042314], OnRun[0x00000000].
Searching for those Event IDs leads me to MS KB 891597 for a hotfix, but
that's for Win2003 SP1, and I'm on SP2.
I also see MS KB 940349, which is a rollup of hotfixes for VSS. I'm a bit
leery about installing it, tho. Has anyone done so yet?
