[Networker] recommendations for networker server upgrade
2008-05-02 04:21:04
Though I would (today) be willing to give ZFS a try, my (VERY large) adv_file
devices were created back around mid-2004 I think. At that time even Solaris
10 was not fully out, let alone ZFS (Solaris 8 was the approved OS here at the
time); Veritas ruled that land hands-down. And we had a spare license for it
that could be moved. :) We did do an initial test with a 1 TB UFS device (the
limit in Solaris 8 ) and it was absolutely miserable.
Unfortunately, having 30 TB (and about 200 LUNs) of VxVM/VxFS disk under the
control of one server means today that an upgrade of our EBS Server will be
done through a Veritas deport/import, and not a new system built with ZFS in
mind. Not a big deal for me, as we even use the disk for our Incremental
backups and its done quite well.
