Hello,
Networker is good at separating data if you plan your groups and pools
accordingly, i am now favoring external scheduler to achieve some control
over networker group\retentions\cloning and media issues, i.e using same
group definitions to alter media pool based on weekday vs monthend to
simplify off site tape rotation, there are many networker processes that
can be improved, but he does the above well.
On the offsite DR and recovery, i believe using 3rd party tools, like
Platspin, Acronis , symantec, HP ( One tough restore-via LTO) would be
advisable to overcome dissimilar hardware & other issues, on VMWARE, ESX
Ranger, Avamar like utilities with snapshot replication or backup would be
highly usefull.Ghosting is not that good of a solution for DR as the it
is a problem to keep the changing environment consistent.
HTH

Is BESR capable of replacing drivers on the fly? We mostly use IBM
system x, and the old machines' RAID is usually different than the
newer boxes we are trying to recover to, resulting in bluescreens and
crash loops on the Windows side.
