I'm running 7.3.3 myself -- and I also have a similar problem, I resorted to figuring out the first tape that was going to be needed and mounting that in the drive I want before issuing the nsrclone command.

What version of NW are you using? Is the nsrclone command being run on the nsrserverhost or on the client? I believe the clone storage node of

the system where the nsrclone command is running is the one that matters

(if the source tape/device is not already mounted somewhere).
