Hi.
We have NW 7.3.2 and a Dell 6000 jukebox. Auto media management is
checked in the props for the juke, but tapes are not automatically
recycling when they reach their expiration dates. I was told by a NW

deleted, and NW won't recycle these as a precaution. Is there a way
to
force recycling on these tapes?
Auto-media management has nothing to do with how previously labeled
tapes are recycled. Auto media management simply allows NetWorker to
label tapes that are not in the media database and that has not been
previously labeled by a NetWorker server. What you need to do is
review the contents of the tapes that you expect to have been recycled
and look for savesets that are still marked as recoverable or
browsable, then look at the client resource for the clients that own
those savesets to make sure you have their retention period set
correctly. Further, no tape will be marked until all savesets on it
and all savesets that are dependent on it (but on other media) all
reach their expiration date.
If you feel you need to mark a tape as recyclable earlier than
originally configured, then you can either do that through the
NetWorker Console or the NetWorker Administrator's media management
GUI or open up a terminal window and type "nsrmm -o recycalble
tape_label." See the man page or the NetWorker command line reference
manual for nsrmm for more information about it.
