Hello,
I recently, had the pleasure to work with Linux ( As networker client off
Windows Server), i would say that being beginner with Linux, i am now
preferring Suse vs RedHat, ( someone can highlight the differences).I
think along with preference the key is that the company provide Enterprise
level support for the OS and RPM are readily available.
We have run into several glitches to run applications with RPM mess ( a
different story), i think having Linux SN may not be a big issue, although
running a server with all the issues that pop up gives me a reason to
think otherwise.
We have been on Windows for all over 8 years and it has been an relatively
stable platform, Windows server from what i have heard recently are
capable of 8 GB fiber, 10 GB Ethernet and they do support PCI-e to it's
highest speeds.
Thanks

There's the problem I have with linux.... We're got a fairly large tech
workforce, with various groups handling the different layers, and if for
example I thought SuSe linux was great because of it's stape drivers I'd
ask for a SuSe box to be built and hey presto, one month later I'll have
a shiny new Red Hat server.
