Hi,

Sadly I didn't use the savegrp -O command before I deleted these volumes
from the database. Nor do I have Unix/Linux to run the commands below
and discover what the pool is.

As a workaround, could I do the renaming of the RES folder as per my
original post? If I imported the bootstrap from these old tapes a new
\program files\legato\nsr\Res folder would be created and I'd stop the
Networker services, rename current RES to RES.old and then rename the
new Res.R to res.

All the old groups/pools would then be recreated. Once I'd installed
from the tapes I could reverse the process and revert back to the
current RES folder.

Would that work?

Oh hang on, exciting developments....

I've used nsrjb to load - but not mount - one of the old tapes into a
drive. I've then run scanner -Bv as a test - ran ok. A discussion on
tek-tips.com suggests that if run scanner -I against it it will import
the info to the Default pool. I'll give it a go.

media database

nsrck -L7 will not recover indices if the savesets don't exist in the
media db anymore.
nsrck -L7 can recover client file index records only when the savesets
exist in the media db and have not expired (and marked as (E)ligible
for recycling).

However the media db could be mm-recovered if it had been saved with
"saverp -O" as Stan suggested.
