Officially,
- from compatibility guide dating of 1999-01-28,
you could run 5.5.0 (Kit Q1-1999)
- from compatibility guide dating of 2001-02-27,
you could run 6.0.1 (Kit Q1-2001)

but ...

as 6.0.1 supports Tru64 Unix 40D-> 40G and
as Tru64 Unix 40F->40G is supported by 6.1.4,
as normal saves are just reading UFS/AdvFS,
is should be ok to use 6.1.4 with 40D.

Thierry & Eddie & Tim,

Thierry That's a useful list of OS releases, many thanks, I have taken a
copy. I have systems still running 4.0G, but 4.0D is a little too old
even for me :-)

I have 6.1.4 running fine on 4.0G (On a TruCluster 1.6 but it needed
tweaking for the cluster install to work.) but on 4.0D I think we were
last running 6.1.1 (and started on 5.5). I would have thought 6.1.4
would be Ok. Looking through my media packs, 6.0.1 is definitely Ok for
4.0D as it is on the Legato printed compatibility list, but I would try
to use a newer version if I were you.

I have a copy of 6.1.4 on CD, but I would suggest you ask EMC very
nicely via PowerLink, and see if they will upload a copy into their FTP
server.

Regards,

Howard Anderson.

In regard to: [Networker] Tru64 4.0 build 878 alpha, Willett, Jr.,
Edward...:

I don't remember what build 878 corresponds to -- is that 4.0f? It
seems like it's something earlier, like 4.0d...

In any case, it was likely something in the 6.1.x series. I know I ran
a 6.1.x client on my Tru64 workstation when it was running 4.0f.

I'm sure we still have a 6.1.x client for Tru64 on a CD somewhere, but I
don't think it would be legal for me to provide it to you, so your best
bet is to hunt around on ftp.legato.com.
