I have looked at the Picker (the thing that transports the tapes).
But i dont know how to run diagnostics on it.
Have you tried IPL'ing (rebooting) your tape library? That may reset the
picker to a good state.
The libraries I have experience with all do a POST and a robot calibration
on IPL, and that generally clears up issues with the picker.
