This doesn't appear to be true anymore. We currently have 27GB free in
/nsr/index and our largest index directory is over 60GB. Our server has not
begun to send notifications yet. I'm planning to add space, but it won't
happen for a couple of weeks. I don't want to be inundated with messages, so
I'd like to move some client index directories before I hit the threshold - IF
it gets close before I can add the space.

We're running NW v7.2.2. Does anyone know what the threshold for notifications
is for this version?

Thanks.

Teresa

Subject: RE Index size notifications

Hi Teresa,

As far as I know NetWorker do not exactly use a percentage or hard limit to
define if filesystem for index is getting full or not.

NetWorker regularly compress index base, for this, it needs as space as the
biggest index folder, if NetWorker could not compress index then it sends the
famous notification index filesystem is getting full. After those notifications
you have to react quickly as it getting worse and worse as index size grows
faster and faster.
To be really clear, those notifications are sent when Networker could not
compress indexes because the free space on the filesystem where your indexes
are, is smaller than the size your biggest index folder.

I Hope this answer your question.
Regards
Jeremie

[Networker] Index size notifications

Our /nsr file system has been steadily filling. Does anyone know when
the notification begins to send mail? The admin guide only says "Sends
e-mail to root: check the size of the client file index because it will
soon exceed the space available".

Is this based on percentage full or some hard limit?

Thanks.

Teresa
