The answer, in my humble opinion is to get a machine on your desk that runs any Linux or Mac OS X and run NWMC that way, along with as many other apps as you can manage. No kidding. I run NWMC all day on my Mac and I have yet to have it crash the OS on me, although I NWMC itself has failed a couple of times.
