I have several ideas going on but cannot come up with a solution. I back up a
linux redhat es 2.1 server running oracle every night. Lately, (used to be when
only doing FULLS) the server goes down and my backup fails. The message is:
nsrexec:system error: No such process. network connection could not be
established with client. Then in the morning we have to boot the server up
because it is down. This is a scheduled backup that occurs nightly. If I run it
myself during the day, ( is that client initiated) the backup is successful.
I also get this in the log:
savefs -s legato -c oracletdb -g Database -p -1 full -R -v

I tried to do some research but can't figure it out. My server is win2000
machine. I back up about 10 other linux clients with no problems. Only 5 of
them are also connected to our SAN storage along with this problem one. Also
the problem machine has only one HBA while all other machines have 2. My
co-workers assure me this is not the problem. And has anyone ever configured
remote access rights for the client. Would this even help?
