Having the value, EXTRACT_ACL=y in the "Application Information"
attribute of the NetApp client will restore ACLs. This definitely works
for CIFS NDMP backups. I have never tested this on a UNIX NFS though.

Subject: [Networker] Backing up Mixed ACL's

We're looking at the feasability of backing up a NetApp file system that
uses both UNIX style ACL's and CIFS ACL's. If I back it up as an NFS
mount on the UNIX side, the CIFS ACL's are lost upon restore. If I back
it up as a CIFS mount on the Windows side, the Unix ACLs' are lost upon
restore.

Is there a way of backing up this file system via Networker that
preserves both ACL's? Can NDMP do this?

We don't currently use NDMP to back the NetApp but are instead using NFS
mounts on the backup server (UNIX).

Thanks!
Paula
